In the latest reveal, one fan felt that all the rumours are pointing to a major Boston uprising which involves two factions, The Brotherhood and the Enclave. Boston is not unreachable to Washington and the Brotherhood might just want to claim Boston as one of their own.
After all, the Outcast has been looking for the Android technology which is also situated in the city. As for the Enclave, their existence in Boston is merely to start fresh but the Brotherhood will be having a huge feud with them.
That is when the protagonist comes in and has to decide the fate of Boston. The fan felt that there can be two endings with the game. The player can either flee the city or conquer the city for his own interest.
