Sprint went ahead and updated their support page and took down the Android 4.4.3 update. Previously reports said that the carrier was sending out the update to owners of the Nexus 5. However they then took the firmware and details down. Sprint didn’t say why they did this, however it was recently suggested that Google were dogfooding the Android 4.4.2 update.
It has been suggested that Android 4.4.3 will have the name of KitKat MR2, as KitKat 4.4.2 had the name of MR1. We also heard that Google gave 1% of their outside employee’s access to the update. It was said that the dogfooding process was made accessible to only the Nexus handsets, these included the Nexus 4, 5 and Nexus 7 2012 and 2013 editions, along with the Nexus 10. The updates should arrive for the Google Play Edition of the Moto X soon.
Google have not said anything about a release of Android 4.4.3, but people did think that the update had started to roll out when Sprint put it on their update support page. In the changelog it said that Google wanted to release the update to address bugs, but that they had not included any new major features. Now analysts are advising people to wait for the update to arrive OTA, updates vary depending on the carrier.
Anyone who wants further proof about the update to 4.4.3 should turn to the Sony Xperia Z Google Play Edition as this is getting Bluetooth SIG certification and it has been said that this handset has the new update. The Sony Experia Z Ultra GPE comes with software named “KTU72.S1.3013.” reports did say that KTU72 is in reference to Android 4.4.2 build.
The Bluetooth SIG listing doesn’t offer any more details on the matter. Owners of the Nexus handsets will be first to get their hands on the new OS. Android 4.4.3 arrived in the Playstore a while ago and this was when Google made tweaks to the Edu Device setup app. On the Whats New page users who push the app update should expect support for Android 4.4.3 and other none Nexus tablets.
