Ford had just developed a new technology for cars and it is known as the Intelligent Speed Limiter. Like its name, the tech basically limits the speed of your car but not in a manner where you can’t speed at all.
Ford revealed that the Intelligent Speed Limiter is developed with the aim of preventing you from receiving speed tickets. When turned on, the Intelligent Speed Limiter will track the speed signage and prevents the car from exceeding it.
However, the mechanism does not force the brakes on your car. Instead, it will behave like cruise control by preventing more fuel from powering the vehicle. The switch will be fixed on the steering wheel and you can also manually set the speed limiter. When exceeding the legal speed, the Intelligent Speed Limiter will let out an alarm to warn the driver.
Judging by the sound of it, the Intelligent Speed Limiter does sound annoying but when on a long trip, it might be useful to avoid a speed ticket. The Intelligent Speed Limiter is currently being tested on the Ford S-Max and it will be a standard feature on future vehicles from Ford.
