A new-generation of Ford Focus RS is currently in development and it is due to make its debut at the end of this year. When the sports hatch arrives, it will be coming with a newly-developed EcoBoost engine that is expected to generate about 350hp.
Unfortunately, the rumours are not on the same page with the Focus Fans as they believe that the sports hatch won’t be coming to the US. The rumours indicated that this is due to the availability of the EcoBoost-powered Lincoln MKC and also the Mustang which makes the Focus RS release here in the US unlikely.
While the rumours do make sense that having the Focus RS coming to the US might be bad for business, they are entirely wrong to write the car off from making its home debut.
This is because the Focus prestigious status in this nation. Being one of America’s bestselling vehicles on the global stage, the Focus can easily be described as a national icon. This is more than enough to justify Ford’s decision to release the next-gen Focus RS.
Besides, not launching the sports hatch in its home country will only damage Ford’s image. In other words, such a move will see Ford making decision based on profits, not passion. For long the Focus RS has served the masses as one of the most powerful sports hatch around and this won’t change for the next-gen model.
