Xiaomi Backfire: China Knocks Off Own Android

Xiaomi is one of the fastest growing smartphone manufacturing company from China and when it first made its debut, the company was thought as a clone of both Samsung and Apple. After many years of progress, Xiaomi then manage to create its own identity in the smartphone market.

Now, Xiaomi is facing a huge copyright issue in China after it realized that there are no fake stores nationwide bearing the company name. The stores are also selling cloned Xiaomi devices and it is hurting the company’s sales in its home country.

For the last couple of months or so, Xiaomi has gone through various marketing platform pleading consumers to boycott the fake cloned products that are found in many major cities.

This isn’t something very new in China. Companies like Weibo are also shocked to see physical stores of the online retailer in major shopping districts at Beiing. Weibo does not have a physical store and it only operates on the internet.
