Capcom & Resident Evil 7: Bringing Scary Back

A mere month after the disappointing Resident Evil 6 came out, game developer Capcom started on Resident Evil 7. The fans were let down by Resident Evil 6 because it seemed to morph into a Call of Duty-style action game with precious few horror-moments to thrill the masses.

Capcom hopefully has taken on board the wealth of criticism and suggestions about improving the game for Resident Evil 7 and bringing scary back. The studio could create something along the lines of Revelations, which combines action and sheer terror perfectly. Even better would be the very first Resident Evil…

Capcom could also make co-operation an optional feature. Co-op games are great, of course, but players shouldn’t be forced into it as they have been of late.

The boss battles leave a lot of room for improvement. The bosses have been a bit too bullet-proof recently – you end up just firing round after round into them and it really can get tiresome. No tricks, no nifty moves to master, just shooting away to the bitter end.

The game got even worse with the quick-time events and by deviating from the story line every few minutes.

Capcom – if you’re reading this – take our advice and bring back the horror already!
