Australia: Petrol Prices Set To Spike

At the moment, fuel is fixed at a rate of 38.1cents a litre. The confusion began last month when deputy Liberal leader, Julie Bishop, denied claims on the price hike. Now, it seems that a new price will be in place next week. While it has yet to be announced, many revealed the price of fuel will increase by 3cents a litre.

Australian Automobile Association CEO, Andrew McKellar, showed his discontent on the government’s move by calling it unjustified if the decision is made in Budget. The lad continued by pointing out that motorists have been paying a lot of tax and unfortunately, only a small portion got rolled into the transport infrastructure.

The has been no hint whatsoever to the petrol price hike that going through with it will definitely come at the cost of trust on the government by motorists.

NRMA president, Wendy Machin, also lashed out at the Federal Government. She is disappointed and revealed that about 10% of the petrol tax is rolled into infrastructure with the balance 90% hidden from the books.
