Porsche Cayenne vs BMW X5 vs Range Rover Sport: Tailored For Perfection

The Porsche Cayenne and Range Rover Sport are two of the bestselling luxury SUVs in the automotive market at the moment but when compared to the BMW X5; both vehicles often end up as second best.

Last month, the third generation X5 was launched by BMW and it poses a serious threat to the Cayenne and Sport. The ferocious vehicle came out with a lot more interior space that is packed with all the latest technology. Everything about the X5 represents luxury at its finest. The most amazing factor is with the X5’s ability to be both family and environment friendly. After all, the SUV is being offered with a choice of three different diesel engines and a petrol engine option.

In detail, the X5 arrived with three rows of seats that are also generous in space. In fact, it is more spacious than the Range Rover Sport. Unfortunately, the Cayenne only has two rows of seats.

Performance-wise, the X5 exhibits some monstrous power but it is the Cayenne that is still on the limelight. The latter might be an SUV but Porsche has gone all out to ensure that the Cayenne performs like a sports car. The result is a large vehicle that offers the best body control, an engaging steering and total grip. Furthermore, the Cayenne has the weight advantage as it weighs 5kg less than the X5, while also being powered by the V8.

When off the road, all three SUVs performed exceptionally well as they all came equipped with hill descent control, high ground clearance and adjustable suspensions. Then again, it is the Range Rover Sport that excels most in this contest as it comes with the award winning Terrain Response system from Land Rover.

It seems that all three vehicles have their own respective perks to offer. For on road performance, the Porsche Cayenne is the winner. For fuel efficiency, there is the BMW X5. For off-road adventure, the Range Rover Sport is the best vehicle for the job.

There is no way to name a winner here, even though all three vehicles belong in the same segment. It is simply down to the consumer’s preferences on how they like their luxury SUV to be. In other words, you decide the winner.
