Next Honda Accord Facelift May Be An Acura TLX Facelift

In a couple of years from now, Honda will be giving the Accord a facelift but nobody has a clue on how it will look like. Today, however, fans and enthusiasts can finally take a peek at the 2016 Honda Accord after it got unveiled during the Beijing Auto Show yesterday.

In case you missed it, the Accord took the stage with a different name called Spirior. After all, the latter is basically the Accord, renamed for the Chinese market.

The mid-size sedan, which was brought in by DongFang, arrived on the Auto Show with a sensational new look. At a glance, one can mistake it for the new Acura TLX Concept. This cannot be blamed as the Spirior Concept was in fact, designed by the same team that created the TLX.

Honda revealed that the new Spirior achieved significant advancements in exterior design, dynamic performance and technologies as well as safety features. The Spirior will be finalized before the year ends and will head into production next year.

Under the hood, the Spirior will be powered by Honda’s 2.4-liter direct-injection four-cylinder gasoline mill paired to an 8-speed DCT transmission. The mid-size sedan will also sport features like head-up display, lane departure warning and blind spot display systems.

The upcoming Spirior is really something to look forward to. Since it is the Accord itself, the upcoming Facelift Accord might also be based on the concept. We can expect the latter to get unveiled next year and wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out to be similar to the Spirior Concept.
