Mitsubishi has just announced a safety campaign that will affect the Mitsubishi Lancer as well as the Mitsubishi Outlander.

According to the report, the vehicles that are affected are those registered under cold weather states. It was pointed out the salt used on the roads of cold countries might corrode the front lower control arms which might detach increasing the risk of a crash.

Affected models will include the 2002 -2007 Mitsubishi Lancer, the 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Wagon, 2003 -2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, 2003 -2006 Mitsubishi Outlander and 2007 – 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander V6. A total of 174,382 units will be affected by this recall.

Recalled models will be inspected.Depending on how bad the corrosion is, Mitsubishi will either apply some sealing/anti-corrosion agent or replace the front lower control arms. All the fixes will be free of charge.
