Mazda CX-3: A Transition From Petrol To Diesel

Mazda confirmed that they will be adopting diesel as the primary source of power for their future vehicles. While no statements were made on this, the decisions from the Japanese carmaker seem obvious that Mazda favours diesel over petrol.

This is evident when Mazda decided that beginning next year, all CX-3 offered in Japan will be powered by diesel. There won’t be any petrol options for the consumers. The move is aimed at improving fuel economy while also making cars more affordable.

The diesel CX-3 is priced at about $20,000 in Japan and it will surely promote the use of diesel in the decade to come. In business terms, many are worried that Mazda might fail in their attempt since diesel cars only make about 3% of all the cars in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Regardless, Mazda is confident that the CX-3 will still sell well locally and the unpredictable fuel pricing will aid in the vehicle’s sales. If it is successful, then more vehicles are expected to be based on diesel in the near future.
