Kia GT & GT4 Confirmed For Production

Kia does not have many super cars or roadsters under its belt but it looks to produce more of them in the near future. The Korean carmaker has been teasing and showing its interest in developing the GT & GT4 concepts.

Both Concepts were first unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show and now, it seems that they are being produced for a 2016 release. If this is true, then obviously, both the GT and GT4 will be Kia’s flagship vehicle for the year.

Under the hood, the GT roadster will be powered by a V6 3.3-liter turbo with 395 HP (290 kW) and 534 Nm (394 lb-ft) sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

As for the GT4, it will be powered by a smaller four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo rated at 320 HP (235 kW) and mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

While it all sounds exciting, there is no official word on the concepts’ development. Regardless, if they were to arrive in 2016, we can expect both GTs to compete with the likes of the Mazda Miata.
