Has Apple Been Slowly Poisoning The iPhone 4S & Now 5?

Had you been experiencing sluggishness in your iPhone 4S after upgrading to iOS 7? Is your battery drains super fast because of the iOS 7?

Had you been experiencing sluggishness in your iPhone 4S after upgrading to iOS 7? Is your battery drains super fast because of the iOS 7? There had been a rumor that these might be done purposely by Apple.

An author for New York Times, Catherine Rampell, had written an article titled ‘Cracking the Apple trap’ recently. She had claimed that her iOS 7 running iPhone 4 had become so slow that it is unbearable just after the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C was released last September. Rather than just speculating on her own, Rampell took a step further by consulting tech analysts. According to the unnamed tech analysts, the updates for iOS 7 which was released after the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C had been engineered to cause issues in older iPhones. This is to encourage consumers to upgrade from the older iPhones into the newer iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.

Other then the incredibly slow performance in older iPhones that runs on iOS 7, there is another highly annoying issue caused to this iPhones by the iOS 7. Battery charge seems to be declining so fast now. Not that it didn’t previously but the older iPhones’ battery charge seems to be draining a lot faster than before. A fix for this is to buy a new battery from Apple. The new battery would costs around $80. But then, a new iPhone 5C on a two year contract basis is just $100. Just $20 more and you get a new iPhone. Can you see the game Apple is playing now?

Making the older devices look and perform badly is a way for companies like Apple to generate sales from existing customers. This would boost their new devices sales further. Many people would choose to get a new iPhone 5C rather than buying a new battery for their iPhone 4 because the price difference is only $20. The poor iPhone 5C sales would slowly gain its pace when the iPhone 4 owners start to abandon their poor performing iPhone 4 and get the cheeky and colorful iPhone 5C instead.

However, older hardware will get slower on new software. The iOS 7 has abundant new features that will take a lot more processing power. The older hardware inside the iPhone 4 is not enough to accommodate the iOS 7, which was optimized for newer hardware. As in for the battery, old things performance decreases overtime and will eventually break. There is no one to blame for this.
