Google Pixel: Water Will Be Its Kryptonite

We are slowly getting a clearer picture of what the upcoming Google Pixel smartphone is going to be like as more and more details about the device is being release.

The latest report by Android Police seems to suggest that the Google Pixel smartphone will be coming with an IP53 rating only which is the lowest Ingress Protection rating you can get on a device.

As means the device won’t be dust resistant or water resistant. The IP53 rating means that it is dust protected and can be explose to light rain and spraying of water but don’t expect it to survive a dunk in the pool.

With most smartphones now coming with IP67 rating, it is odd to see Google ignore the water resistance and dust reistant ability of their smartphone. We should be hearing more about these devices on the 4th of October at the Google event.
