Fallout 4: Ability To Tell A Friendly From An Enemy May Not Be Needed

Over on Reddit there has been a lot of talk about removing the red designation from Fallout 4 if players wanted too. Apparently there are a lot of people who agree with this.

This was sparked off when one Reddit user said that players should be able to turn off the red designation for enemies so that everyone had the same colour. Players would then roam around the wasteland of Fallout 4 without knowing who was the enemy and who was a friend. This could lead to better rewards and punishments as there would be risks.

One example given was walking through the game and coming across the Legion. The player could shoot them from far away but maybe they were deserters and were harmless. The player could have found this out if they had gone closer.

Right now gamers can tell who the enemy is from a long way off. Players could have a lot more fun if there was more intrigue in the game, as in the first two games in the Fallout series the player didn’t know who was a friend and who the enemy was. This could be an option in Fallout 4.

There are many players who have agreed with what the Reddit user said and they went on to make suggestions on how it might work. It was said that perhaps the barter system could be reintroduced and NPCs could have names, which would give the game a real life feel. After all the player might think twice before shooting if they saw that the person had a name.
