Audi TT Just Got Cheaper With New Base Model

Audi became the centre of a buzz yesterday when it launched a new entry model trim of the latest TT. Retailing at about $35,000, the entry level version of the Roadster ensures that buyers will save about $3500.

However, the new TT trim will be nerfed on the performance front. Audi was kind enough to share that the entry level TT runs on a smaller 1.8L TFSI engine that has 180PS and 184ft-lbs of torque to offer. Also, the engine is paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

While the engine might be downsized from the original TT, it does not mean that the entry level model is weak. The roadster is still able to sprint from 0-62mph in about 6.9seconds and it takes another 7 seconds to hit the top speed of 147mph.

The icing on the cake is with the fact that the entry level TT is possibly the greenest performance roadster around. Despite the great performance offered by the car, the TT is able to return impressive fuel consumption ratings of 33.6mpg.
