Android 6.0 Marshmallow: How To Update Your Nexus Right Now

Yes, you read it right. Android 6.0 Marshmallow is now available to public and older Nexus devices are now getting the new operating system. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is available for Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7 and Nexus 9 tablet, and Nexus Player set top box. Google has made the factory images available to install Android 6.0 manually, although over-the-air updates are expected to be accessible soon.

To update your Nexus devices to Android 6.0, just follow these steps:
(i) Make sure you have the latest Android SDK set up before flashing your device.
(ii) Take the factory image you need for your device, or check out Google’s extended list of images.
(iii) The unzipped factory image file should be transferred to your SDK / platform-tools folder.
(iv) Via USB, connect your device to computer.
(v) Next, start fastboot mode.
(vi) Open the terminal for Android Debug Bridge and type the following script: adb reboot bootloader or fastboot oem – unlock – flash-all – fastboot oem lock – fastboot oem unlock.

For more information on how you can do all these, check out Google’s developer page.
