Android 4.4 KitKat Roadmap For Xperia, S3, Moto X & Note 3

The latest version of Android is KitKat 4.4.2 and the firmware came with the Nexus 5 last year. With there being many smartphones running on Android it can get confusing as to which handsets should get updated.

A lot of the confusion has been around Motorola, Sony and Samsung. As we have done a lot of the research it will clear the air on which phones should be getting updated.

Motorola and the Moto X along with the Razr phones will be getting updated to KitKat 4.4.2. However there is a catch and that is that it will only be available for AT&T.

When it comes to Sony, the Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact and the Xperia Z Ultra are going to get an update to KitKat. Other handsets from the Japanese company to get updated include the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia E1 and Xperia M2. It has been said that the update is going to happen during Q1 and Q2 of this year.

Next is Samsung and the delay affects the Samsung Galaxy S3. However Samsung Saudi Arabia along with Samsung Poland has both cancelled the update. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will get an update in selected countries only. Those who own the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 don’t have to worry as they are at the top of the update list.

KitKat of course is able to support handsets that have low memory and this means there are a lot of handsets out there that it could arrive on. We can only hope that the roadmap will not suffer from any more changes.
