2017 Toyota RAV4: A Limp Disappointment

The Toyota RAV4 is currently one of the top models in its segment but it definitely did not get there by being exciting and good looking.

The RAV4 does not look bad but compared to all the other models in the segment, the Toyota RAV4 does look a little plain. The 2017 Toyota RAV4 will be coming in with a 2.5 liter four cylinder engine. There is also a hybrid powertrain option. While both engines are fuel efficient and powerful enough to push the car around, don’t expect things to get really exciting behind the wheels.

The gasoline engine will be returning about 26mpg on average while the RAV4 Hybrid is able to return about 32mpg on average. The 2017 model will also come with a few more safety features which will include the forward collision warning, lane departure alert, lane keeping assist, automatic high beam headlights, adaptive cruise control and more.

As good as it sounds, customers have reported that the engine makes the RAV4 feel sluggish. The hybrid model will need about 8.3second to go from 0-60mph while the standard model will need 0.1 seconds more to get to the same speed.

The Toyota RAV4 will be competing with models like the Honda CR-V, Ford Escape, Hyundai Tuscon and more. Do you think they deserve to be on the top?
