2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF Not What MX-5 Was About

By  |

The Mazda MX-5 Miata was a huge hit when it was released not only because it came with a fun and young looking exterior design with great performance but because it came with a reasonable price tag.

That was one of the main reason why people would consider getting the Mazda MX-5. It is a way for people to have fun without having to break their bank that is Mazda’s selling point but that won’t work with the new Mazda MX-5 Miata RF model.

Unlike the standard model, the RF model will come with a convertible roof but that is not the only major difference between the two models. The one with the roof will not cost so much more and some people are wondering if it is still worth getting or not.

Some fans were also not too happy with the design of the new roof saying that the Mazda MX-5 Miata RF now looks a little odd.

What do you think? Is Mazda pushing things a little too far? Despite all the talk about the vehicle being overpriced, the people are still rushing to put their names down for a unit.

I think this car is unfairly reviewed on here, based on the past two articles I have seen. Being an owner of 3 Miata’s (NA, NB, and now ND), I think that the idea of making a Miata with more of a coupe feel is exactly what the public wanted. Sure you can complain about the 100 or so pounds the RF adds to the curb weight, but this thing is the most beautiful stock Miata Mazda has ever created. What everyone should be interested in is to see if the new Miata was tweaked for the body roll issue that the later NC/ND had. Overall, If you don’t like the look, extra cost, or additional weight, there is always the soft top version… then again would a preorder of that sell out in 24 hours?
