2017 Audi Q2: Will It Make More Sense To Call It A Hatchback?

We are not sure what Audi was thinking but ever since the carmaker announced that the Q2 will be a smaller version of the Q3, we cannot help but imagine the car as a hatchback. Clearly, a line has to be drawn to distinguish a CUV from a hatchback.

For Audi, they described the Q2 as the smallest CUV in their fleet when released and it will be competing with Mini. However, since the Q2 is going to be smaller than the Q3, the car is destined to compete with the Mercedes A-Class instead.

That aside, the Q2 is confirmed to get released late in 2016 and it will be badged as a 2017 year model. For more details on the Q2, we will need to wait until the ‘hatchback’ gets unveiled before the summer of 2016. Only then can we determine on whether the Q2 fits in the CUV category.
