2016 Toyota Hilux & The Tacoma Are Two Of A Kind? [PICS]

The Toyota Hilux is one of the bestselling pickup trucks in the world and it is about to get a new successor coming late next year. Today, we have found the first set of spy shots on the upcoming Hilux and it gave us a rough idea of what the vehicle is going to offer.

Despite the thick camouflage wrapped around the Hilux, we can still see that it is bigger than its predecessor. Also, the front portion has been redesigned. We noticed the new horizontal grille, narrower headlamps and semi-oval lower bumper which seems to be taken from the latest Tacoma.

In short, the Hilux looks more American than Japanese with all the muscles on its bold body. Obviously, the Hilux will be looking to halt the Chevrolet Colorado from enjoying unlimited success. The latter is currently selling like hotcakes due to the fact that it is beautiful, powerful and more fuel efficient than any other pickup trucks in its segment.

With that being said, we could even see Toyota doing the impossible by turning the Hilux into a hybrid monster. If the Hilux is truly inspired by the Tacoma, then a hybrid powertrain will surely get the thumbs up for the pickup truck.

Then again, whatever lies beyond the camouflage remains to be proven via official means. If the focus is just on the design, we feel that the Hilux is just the Tacoma that is morphed into a pickup truck.
