2016 Subaru WRX ST: What Can We Expect?

The Subaru Impreza had improvements made to it and now the 2016 Subaru WRX and Subaru WRX STI , which are based on the Impreza, will be given active-safety technology, new infotainment systems, and a number of visual amendments for the new model year.

On all trim levels, the 2016 Subaru WRX and WRX STI are given the automaker’s Starlink touchscreen infotainment systems. The base Starlink interface on the entry WRX and WRX STI comes with a screen of 6.2 inches and includes backup camera, satellite radio, Bluetooth, Pandora, Aha and iHeart Radio Internet radio streaming. Also offered as standard on the Limited trim levels and as an option on the WRX Premium and WRX STI Premium, there is a 7.0 inch version of the Starlink system which includes dual USB ports and gesture controls.

The 2016 Subaru WRX offers the company’s EyeSight active-safety technology suite as well which comes with adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, lane-departure warning and lane-keep assist functions. It is only offered on the WRX Limited though when it comes with the optional continuously variable transmission. The 2016 WRX STI Limited offers blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert as standard together with push-button start.

For the new model year, the 2016 Subaru WRX and WRX STI are given two slight visual changes. New 18 inch wheels are standard on WRX Premium and Limited model, but 17-inch wheels are kept as standard on the entry WRX trim level. There is now a no-cost option for the WRX STI Limited to replace the vehicle’s standard massive rear wing with a more subtle trunk lip spoiler.

Compared to lat year, there will be a bit of an increase in prices for the 2016 Subaru WRX and WRX STI. Prices for the 2016 WRX now start at $27,390 with destination for the base model with a manual transmission and go up to $32,390 for the WRX Limited with a continuously variable transmission, increases of $300. When it comes to the 2016 Subaru WRX STI, there is a $200 increase taking the price up to $35,490, and there’s a $1,500 increase for the WRX STI taking the price up to $40,790, because of more equipment having been included.

The 2016 Subaru WRX and WRX STI will be making their way onto the market this summer.
