2016 Ford Fusion Called Back, Not Alone

Ford has issued a recall to recall back a few of their models after it was decided that there was an issue with the front driver-side and passenger-side seat belt pretensioners.

According to the report, the seatbelt pretensioners did not have a sufficient insulation applied so when the pretensioners are activated, the heat will disconnect the cables to the belt which will result in the seat belts failing to hold the occupants.

Affected models will include the 2013 to 2016 Ford Fusion, 2015 to 2016 Ford Mondeos as well as the 2013 to 2015 Lincoln MKZ model. There have already been two accidents and two injuries that are related to the recall.

Those affected will get an insulation coating injected around the pretensioner so that the heat will not affect the cables when the pretensioner is activated. Ford will start notifying their customers by the 16th of January.

A total of 680,872 units will be affected by the recall.
