2016 Ford Edge Moving Up Class

Crossovers have been a popular choice this year and this has meant that car makers have been put under pressure to keep their SUVs compelling to customers. The 2015 Ford Edge has joined the crossover craze and it has been enjoying strong sales since Ford introduced it onto the market 8 years back.

The Edge did receive an update four years ago but Ford needed a new model if they were to remain in competition. The 2015 Ford Edge is just that, it comes with a new exterior and interior and has been paired with drivetrains that have been upgraded and it offers more fuel efficiency and performance.

The 2015 Ford Edge has a body made from a higher percentage of high strength steel and it is 4 inches longer along with being 1.3 inches taller on the McPherson struts and its independent suspension. The suspension at the back is coil sprung and the vehicle has a 23 millimetre antiroll bar which helps to reduce the body roll by 20%.

The larger body means that there is more by way of interior space and the cabin is also a big step up when it comes to design and the quality of materials. The interior panels are tighter and there is better integration, with surfaces that are soft to the touch and these dominate the dash and the door panels. There is plenty of space for storage and this includes a centre console over two levels. The cabin is airy and light with plenty of space in the front and back seats. Noise is kept out thanks to thicker glass.

The starting price for the SE variation is $28, 995 and the 2015 Ford Edge SE comes with a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder EcoBoost engine. This offers 245 horses along with 275 of torque. It has the 6 speed automatic transmission and paddle shifters on the steering wheel. You should be able to get around 20mpg in the city and 30mpg on the highway. If you want AWD you can add it onto the Edge for $1, 495. The SE comes with 18 inch wheels, cloth seating, rearview camera, LED taillights and six speaker audio. For $29, 420 you can go for the 3.5 litre V6 engine which offers 280 fhorse and 250 of torque. You should get around 18mpg in the city and 28mpg on the highway.

The 2015 Ford Edge SEL comes in above the SE and you can pick it up for $32, 395 and for this you get leather wrapped steering wheel, 10 way power driver’s seat, heated mirrors, reverse sensing system and much more. The Titanium trim Edge comes in at $36, 495 and this offers more technology such as the standard hands free power liftgate, HD radio and the 12 speaker Sony Audio system, leather seating, 19 inch wheels and more.
