2015 Porsche Cayenne Review: Not Worth The Upgrade

Porsche has finally released the all-new Cayenne and it is probably the greenest Porsche vehicle around. The Cayenne arrived with a variety of powertrains which includes that of a hybrid and also diesel motors.

We managed to land behind the wheels of the Cayenne S Diesel and it was a breath-taking experience. We noticed a new looking Cayenne, which adopted a contemporary styling together with some sophisticated design striking out of its appearance.

The Cayenne’s interior, on the other hand, there are still the many buttons scattered on the dashboard and central compartment. Despite that fact, the Cayenne is still able to show some improvements thanks to the multi-functional steering wheel that is ported from the 918 Hybrid supercar. On the downside of things, the Cayenne is poorly insulated. The loud road and wind noise were able to creep inside the cabin to annoy us, even when we are cruising at 60km/h.

Under the hood, the Cayenne Diesel S is powered by a 4.2-litre twin-turbo V8 that generates 380hp and 850Nm of torque. While this might sound staggering, it hurts to learn that the improvement is merely by 3hp and the torque is unchanged. The motor is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox which enables the Cayenne to sprint from 0-100km/h in 5.4 seconds. However, the top speed remains at 253km/h.

Furthermore, the Cayenne returned EPA fuel consumption ratings of 35.3mpg with CO2 emission being reduced to 209g/km. While the figures may not look impressive, it is still some progress made on the economic front.

All in all, the Cayenne S Diesel offered to us a thoroughly exciting test drive. This particular model is currently the bestselling SUV in the UK and it can be owned from just £61,474.
