2015 Land Rover Discovery: Half Range Rover With A Dash Of Ford Explorer?

Not long ago, Land Rover was in New York to talk about the future Discovery Vision Concept SUV. It was then revealed that the next Discovery will be making its entry next year and it will come with new technologies that will improve the SUV’s driving experience.

Also, we learned that the Discovery will break away from being a single model and be more family-friendly. In other words, the Discovery will also be a great leisure vehicle.

The managing director of Jaguar said, “We announced at the Geneva Motor Show in March that the Discovery family is set to evolve. And it is apt that in the 25th anniversary year of the original Discovery that we preview how this evolution will take us forward into a daring new era. The Discovery Vision Concept gives us the first stunning glimpse into this hugely exciting future.’

In terms of the design, the next Discovery will have taller roof and alpine lights. The Discovery will have a more appealing design, to make it more desirable. Space will also be a priority in the future of Discovery. The seats will all be foldable and also configurable.

As for the tail section, it will come with a single piece design that comes with a sill step where drivers can hook their ski or bike rack. The interior will come with leather seats, to offer the ultimate comfort for the driver and passengers.

Over at the tech department, the Discovery will look to be equipped with the latest advancements. They include:

– Next-generation Human-Machine Interface (HMI) technology creates a rich and truly immersive multimedia experience for all occupants, including video calls between passengers through the seatback infotainment screens, Smart Glass bringing the power of augmented reality to the entire glasshouse, and various functions, including the doors, indicators, headlamps and seatback screens, operated by Gesture Control.
– Remote Control Drive enables the driver to manoeuvre the car at very low speed while not actually seated inside it. Remote Control Drive has various useful applications both on- and off-road, from coupling a trailer, to external spotting during extreme off-roading.
– Visibility is greatly enhanced in all conditions wîth the powerful, day-like light of the laser headlamps, which feature intelligent object tracking and beam-dipping to improve driver safety.
– Navigating tight gaps is made easy wîth the visual assistance of Laser Referencing, which utilises visible lasers to project markings, symbols and imagery onto ground surfaces.

The Land Rover Discovery has a bright future ahead of it. However, the concept design somehow resembles the Range Rover. As for the rear, it looks like a Ford Explorer.
