2015 Lada X-Ray 2: A Bit Of Maserati, Volvo XC60 and Features From Nissan-Renault

Russian carmakers rarely get the attention of the world but when it does, it is because of something extraordinary. This was what Lada managed to achieve when it unveils the X-Ray 2 during the recent Moscow Motor Show.

The 5-door crossover hatchback swept the viewers of their feet as it looks superb in every way. However, many are arguing that it looks too much like the Volvo XC60. Just by looking at the grille, one can mistake it for the latter. Well, this cannot be blamed as the designer is Steve Mattin and the lad was once working for Mercedes and Volvo.

Despite the many similarities, Lada revealed that the X-Ray 2 is based on the Vesta. It will also be the direct replacement for the Granta. The Vesta, in particular, got it designs from the Renault-Nissan partnership which explains how some of its features are actually visible on the X-Ray 2. However, the shape of the tail section and the lower bumpers somewhat resembles a Maserati.

It seems that the Lada X-Ray 2 is a compilation of many designs into one. The super sporty look on the X-Ray 2 is to make it competition-ready as the car is developed to race in the World Touring Car Championship.
