2015 Kia Sorento Official Details Released: Price Is The Worrying Factor

Very soon from now, Kia will be releasing the next-gen Sorento and it will be nothing like its predecessor. The SUV will sport a new design language and powertrain that will surely challenge the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Ford Edge.

When viewing the vehicle, we can see that the Sorento comes with narrower headlights that rest on each end of the linear grille. While this might be something new from Kia, the Sorento has failed to excite us with its design.

Inside the vehicle, the Sorento is equipped with Kia’s multi-purpose steering, along with all the high-end accessories like floor mats and leather seats. However, the plastic finish and dull design of the dashboard simply makes the vehicle feel cheap. On the positive side of things, the Sorento offers a lot of space for its third-row seat that will make it the perfect family car.

Under the hood, the Sorento is powered by a 3.3L V6 engine that pushes out 290hp and 252 lb-ft of torque. This allows the SUV to sprint from 0-100km/h in under 8 seconds. Despite that fact, the 6-speed automatic transmission failed to offer satisfactory fuel consumption. In detail, the Sorento returns 20.6mpg on combined consumption.

Judging from the specs above, the Sorento should be valued between $25k and $35k. While Kia has not released the full price detail, it has been teased that the Sorento will cost at least $40k. If this is true, then the SUV is not worth the price tag.

For that same amount, one can get something much better like the Ford Edge or even the Toyota REV4. At the moment, the odds for the Sorento to be a big hit are too slim.
