2015 Jeep Cherokee Diesel Model To Miss Out On Home Debut

Jeep has confirmed that it will be releasing the next Cherokee in 2015 and the 4×4 will come in petrol and diesel variants. Unfortunately, the latter won’t be shipped to the US anytime soon.

This is due to Jeep, which is adopting a more cautious approach towards the US market. The American carmaker wishes to monitor the popularity of the Cherokee in their homeland before deciding on whether the diesel variant is worth the release. The upcoming Cherokee will run on the 3L V6 EcoDiesel engine that is developed by VM Motori.

Jeep’s boss, Mike Manley, revealed that the company wishes to see the sales figure of the diesel Grand Cherokee to double before they can consider releasing the Jeep Cherokee.

The lad says, “Cherokee is slightly different because of its weight and size. When I think about bringing Cherokee diesel here, I would like to see Grand Cherokee diesel get much higher than 8 percent. It would have to be in mid-double digits.”

Then again, Mike concluded by saying that releasing the Jeep Cherokee is still possible regardless. With 2015 fast approaching, fans can expect more news on the upcoming Cherokee to surface.
