2015 GMC Denali Pickup Truck: An Environment Friendly Beast [PICS]

The pickup truck segment might be fluctuating but that isn’t stopping GMC from producing their next big thing, the Denali. The vehicle got its concept unveiled back in 2008, during the Chicago Auto Show and now; it is in its final phase of development.

The Denali is expected to be selling like hotcakes. This is owed to its fuel economy, which is aimed to be 50% more efficient than the most environmental-friendly pickup truck right now. Of course, competition is going to be fierce Toyota is creating something similar with the upcoming A-BAT, Honda with the Ridgeline and many more.

Nevertheless, the Denali is going to be spectacular as it looks to run on the RWD system on a unibody architecture. The truck will be powered by GM’s 4.9L V8 engine that features fuel-saving technologies such as direct-injection technology and Active Fuel Management.

The engine will be paired to an electric motor to further improve fuel efficiency. GM claims that the latter will be running the vehicle when at low speeds. This will assist in minimalizing unneeded revs, thus improving fuel consumption. Of course, no details on the electric motor were shared.

Even the design of the Denali looks ferociously good. There is that oversized grille resting at the front and a pair of narrow LED headlamps that is tilted upwards over the sides. The Denali comes with 4-doors and an open cabin at its tail. In short, the Denali basically looks like any other GM trucks but with a more futuristic touch to it.

Inside the cabin, there is a nice mixture of mechanical functionality and leather-trimmed comfort. The layout of the central console makes it feels like the driver is in an airplane cockpit. However, the distance between the front row seats and the rear-row has been shortened but it does not compromise the leg-room one bit.

All in all, the GM Denali is something adventurous and promising at the same time. There is a lot of anticipation built for the pickup truck and it won’t be long until GM brings out this beast.
