2014 Nissan GT-R Review: Small Changes But Better Drive

Earlier this year, Nissan launched the all-new GT-R but it isn’t something worth getting excited about. This is due to the fact that the changes and improvements on the sports car are pretty subtle.

For starters, the GT-R still runs on the same 3.8L bi-turbo V6 engine like its predecessor. However, the engine has been refined for better responsiveness in the mid and high revs range. Also, the suspension has been upgraded to offer better handling and more stability when speeding.

As for the new items, the GT-R comes with new injectors, a new pressure release valve for the turbos, new oil-pan baffles, and revised spring and damper rates. Also, there is a new instrument panel in place with even new cam bolts.

Then again, those are all the changes and improvements to the all-new GT-R. This led us to the bigger question. Is it better? The answer is yes.

We gave the GT-R a quick test run and actually managed to feel the difference. It is also safer to drive the GT-R in the city as the engine can finally be controlled instead of being aggressive all the time.

Furthermore, the GT-R now has a faster acceleration. It is able to sprint from 0-62mph in just 2.7 seconds. That is 0.1 seconds faster than its predecessor. Also, the GT-R still runs on the 4WD system that returns 24mpg while also offering a top speed of 196mph.
