2014 Mazda CX-5 or Hyundai Santa-Fe: The Green Beauties

Present day SUV is nothing like those from the past. It seems that SUVs are evolving into a fashion statement instead of being the most durable vehicle on the roads. The latest Mazda CX-5 and the Hyundai Santa –Fe is a perfect example of this evolution but which of them is better?

The CX-5, in particular, runs on the 155hp 2L gas 4-cylinder engine that is operated through a 6-speed manual transmission. The CX-5 has decent petrol consumption. In the city, the SUV recorded 26mpg whereas on the highway, it achieves 32mpg.

The CX-5 also comes with feature like climate control A/C, HD radio, keyless ignition, power seats, rearview camera and video display. The SUV is also a safe bet as it has daytime running lights, engine immobilizer, front fog lights, rear center 3point belt and rear door child safety locks. Consumers can own the Mazda CX-5 for just $23,895.

Then, there is the Hyundai Santa Fe, which runs on the 190hp 2.4L gas 4-cylinder engine with an automatic transmission. Fuel consumption on the Santa Fe isn’t as impressive as the CX-5 but it is still manageable for the driver. It recorded 22mpg on city driving and 33mpg on highways.

The Santa Fe comes with features with Bluetooth connection, USB/iPod connection, hands free calling, power exterior mirror control and an audio input jack. Safety features includes the hill-start assistance system. As for the price, Hyundai is selling the Santa Fe for $24,450.

Obviously, the Mazda MX-5 is the better choice of the two. It is cheaper and more efficient than the Hyundai Santa Fe.
