2014 Jeep Wrangler Review: On The Road, Its Horrible

It seems that every Jeep vehicle is catered to fulfil one purpose and that is to be an off-road monster. The long serving Wrangler has just been updated with a new model and it offered just that. In a way, we find that it is starting to get a little boring.

The 4×4 Wrangler, like its predecessors, siblings, cousins and any other Jeep vehicle, is certainly a beast that is capable of climbing mountains, crossing reverse, sand surfing ad many more. On the tar mat however, the Wrangler shares a different opinion.

We tested the top-of-the-range Wrangler Sahara and it is powered by a 2.8L CRD engine that generates 197hp and 339ft-lbs of torque. Despite the vast horsepower and torque, it can only manage a sprinting time of 13.5 seconds when hitting the 62mph mark. Then, there is a top speed of 107mph. Unfortunately, the Wrangler is not an economic car as it returns only 34mpg.

There is nothing pretty special about the Wrangler’s exterior design as it looks more or less the same like its predecessors. However, the interior has certainly improved as the car comes with more premium finish that brings out better comfort.

For £27,595, the Wrangler Sahara is not something an average consumer would want to pay for. This is unless they are into off-roading because that is where the vehicle excels. The Wrangler climbs hills like a mad man and jumps over obstacles like a rampaging rhinoceros defending its territory.

Sure, we can’t deny that the off-road part is the best kind of thrill that is commonly found with the Wrangler. Then again, it is important to plan your purchase since it is not every day where you go on an off-road adventure.
